The events of the past are always colored by the heritage which preceded them. This is also true with the modest beginnings and periodic growth of St. Petri Lutheran Church.
The Scandinavian-Americans who left the shores of Norway had received, during their childhood, a thorough religious training. These immigrants who settled in new surroundings did not forget their spiritual needs. They gathered in homes to share the Word of God and to organize a congregation. Humble were these beginnings, often tried by hardships, but they brought forth fruits worthy of their labor and love of the Lord Jesus Christ.
St. Petri was founded on December 17, 1887 at the home of Endre Engebretson. On January 29, 1890 , the decision was made to build a church building on the present site south of Brandon .
In St. Petri's 118 years of mission and outreach, we gratefully remember the seven pastors who have faithfully served the Lord in this place to which they have been called. We all owe a debt of gratitude to the members of the congregation who, down through the years, have given of themselves and of their means so that the work of the church might go forward.
