Schedule of Events
Tuesday, August 1
The Brandon Auditorium will be honored with a dedication ceremony for its placement on the National Register of Historic Places. This award was received in 1985. It was decided that the dedication should be this year at the 125th Celebration. A short program is scheduled at 8 p.m. Brandon's History will be on display at The History Center (located in the Auditorium), which will be open during specific hours throughout the week.
Wednesday, August 2
Red Hatters' Tea Party at 2 p.m. at the Brandon Auditorium.
A Dedication ceremony for Edgefield Cemetery (located about 3 miles north of Brandon on County Highway 16) is at 5 p.m. This site lies near where "old" Brandon was established.
Old Fashion Family Picnic at Chippewa Park, formerly known as Hillard's Park at 5:30 p.m. with pork chops by Pork Producers. Free will donation. Bring lawn chairs.
Thursday, August 3
The Brandon History Center will be open from 1 to 5 p.m.
Party at Lions' Park at 4 p.m. Includes entertainment, beer gardens, battle of the bands, and watermelon seed-spitting contest. Bring lawn chairs.
The Miss Mid-Summerfest Pageant begins at 7 p.m. at the school. All past queens and their attendants are invited and will be recognized at the pageant. Cake and refreshments will be served during the intermission. There will be a "thank you" to all of the businesses that are sponsoring the contestants. The Miss Mid-Summerfest Pageant has been held for the past 20 years.
Friday, August 4
The All School Reunion registration begins at 10 a.m. The Reunion includes a welcome program at 2 p.m., tours of the school, a slide presentation and an evening buffet ($12.50 per person, must RSVP by July 15--see form on this web site) from 5 to 8 p.m. The reunion is open to graduates, former students, current and former faculty and staff and their families.
The History Center will be open from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Old Time Barn Dance at John Lund's Barn.
Saturday, August 5
Softball tournaments all day at the ball fields.
The History Center will be open from 9 a.m., closed during the parade, open again after the parade until 5 p.m.
Craft Galore and More Show at Schiele Auction Center, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Kiddie Parade starts at 10:30 a.m. and the Grand Parade begins at 11 a.m.
Grace Lutheran Church Salad Luncheon will begin after the parade.
The drawing for the History Quilt will be at 3 p.m. at the Auditorium.
Judging for the Beard Growing Contest will start after the parade and continue until 3 p.m. at the Auditorium.
Petting Zoo, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Giggles the Clown, pony rides and games for kids at various parks around town.Many walk thru exhibits, antique tractors, cars, cycles will be parade entries and will also be on display after the parade. "Show and Tell" of our local artists and inventors will be featured in various locations throughout Brandon as well.
Giggles the Clown and a Petting Zoo will be in Brandon to entertain your children, as well as other child-oriented attractions.
The Lions' Chicken Feed, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with their ever-famous chicken, potatoes, corn and watermelon.
Annual Outdoor Dance at Brandon Auditorium at 9 p.m.
Sunday, August 6
Softball tournaments all day at the ball fields.
A Breakfast Buffet at St. Ann's Catholic Church. Serving hours will be from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Free will donation.
The Community Church Service will be held at 10 a.m. at the Brandon School.
Theatre L'Homme Dieu Traveling Troupe will perform Hansel and Gretel at the Lions' Park at 1:30 p.m. Bring lawn chairs.
Softball Tournaments all weekend!
A book of Brandon History will be available for sale; also available are numbered Beater Jars with a ceramic transfer of the Brandon Auditorium.
Souvenirs such as sweatshirts, tee shirts, caps, tote bags, golf towels, bracelets are available now.
